You have the option of Sunday, March 10th, 1-4pm and Saturday, March 16th 9-1. For $150 you get a 20 minute session, an online gallery for you to view and choose 7 images, the black and white conversions of those images, use of 3 baby chicks and Spring decor, and print release! Sessions are for up to 3 children, 6 months and up. Sorry- no family or newborns.

As a lot of you can probably relate- when you are involved/get engaged/get married, you adopt some of their friends, coworkers, and family members as if they were your own. Well- I could NOT be luckier to inherit Steve’s grandparents. To put it simply- I adore them! They remind me every time I see them what unconditional love and support looks like and that is my number one priority when it comes to the people I allow in my life these days. His grandfather is an amazing handyman and was such a big help for the assembly of this project. I am so so so so happy I brought my camera out and captured these! People- go video and take pictures of moments you would not classify as “picture worthy”. They are the ones you will treasure most. Trust me- you won’t be disappointed!

Here are some of my favorites of the day! Part One!

Steve and I went over to see my niece and nephew while there were a few traces of snow left! When we got there, miss grumypants was not stoked about waking up from a nap. She pretty much pretended I wasn’t there and continued with her blanky caressing and occasionally looked at me with this stare like, “How dare you interrupt this routine of mine!?!?!” It’s getting to be the norm, but I used the whole “Steve is here!!!” line. Works like a charm to cheer her up.

Then the real fun started! Davis could hardly wait to play in the snow with us. What I think is probably the funniest set of pictures I have of my family is what resulted….. Look at that FACE!!!

BOOM! Best picture EVER!!!!  IN THE FAAAACE!!! haha  Can you see Steve’s “Oh my gosh- I just hit a kid in the face with a snowball” look??? And for those of you who are worried about Davis- trust me- he did not let up the whole time we were out there and got some great face shots himself.

This is my favorite picture out of the bunch. I was showing my sister how to use my camera (well… how to FOCUS my camera! haha) After many failed attempts, this is what happened. I am pointing at Mary James’ eye to tell her to “put that little square THERE!” Mary James doesn’t seem to like the idea of  a box being on her eye! That expression cracks me up!

Here Mary James is feeding Steve “ice cream.” Then she was telling him something about how the ice cream falls from the sky. I love that little weirdo!

What a great afternoon! So many laughs. So many smiles. So many memories. SO SO happy I have them documented forever!!! The more I do these the more I fall in love with lifestyle shoots. These told the perfect story of a simple afternoon with my family and I think that is so important! Perfectly posed pictures would hardly do this awesomeness any justice. Meet Madelyn and Cameryn- my first set of twins I photographed last summer! They were so cute and it was so funny to see the differences between them instantly!!! They had these mermaids in their rooms and Mom loved their birthstone so we incorporated those for their individual pics. Mom and Dad met and got engaged at Elon College so it was only fitting we got them on the college blanket! I absolutely loved my first twin session and these girls kicked off what turned out to be 5 sets of newborn twins and one set of toddler twins- all in a few short months!!!! This is our first snow in our first house so I obviously had to take a bunch of pictures in all the stages I am hoping it will all still be here in the morning so I can see all three inches in all its glory!!!

Speaking of our first house, I am BEYOND clueless about anything in the yard. I am whatever it is called when you are the opposite of a green thumb. Black thumb? Meh. Anywhoo- I took such pride in my pansies! My super green thumb sister, Melissa, even complimented me on how good of a job I have done with them. I also planted a bunch of daffodil bulbs because I didn’t really have to do anything to them til Spring and I just love those blooms to pieces. It has been so warm they were tricked into coming out early and now I don’t think they will make it! I shoulda put a sweater on them!!! Needless to say, these pictures make me sad

Pretty much the second we got out of the car- Steve jumped out and pulled up the windshield wipers. I am sure they would be frozen to my car already and I don’t really “do” the whole defrosting thing. That is my monogram sticker on the back of my car starting to get covered. Yes- DHM are my initials. Not just something I picked out of the blue

She also was snooping around when I was putting some prop bins away, spotted the red tutu, and begged to wear it. It is clearly made for newborns but I just tied it around her back and she felt super special. I threw her hair up into the first ponytail I have seen her with. My heart just melted. She instantly looked years older and I had to fight back tears!

I am really starting to like these common every day pictures. I never process anything personal that isn’t a specific holiday or event so these are nice. I know these will be the ones I treasure most as time passes.

I have wanted to make myself do more personal photos, as I always get so sidetracked with work that I almost NEVER process personal images. I also wanted to not just be some logo for my followers to know so this was a perfect opportunity! I will warn you!!! These will not be perfect images. I will try to not edit out things I normally would with a client’s session. Sometimes these pictures will probably be downright awful- but I don’t care. This is me trying to give MYSELF memories via pictures because I have noticed this last year that I have neglected my own photos all together! Boo that. So here is my resolution: Every Monday I will be posting a blog. It may be one picture, it may be many. It will just be a temperature gauge of what is going on with ME every week. And boyyyyy did I pick a good week to start

My very favorite moment of Christmas EVERY year is part of our family tradition when my mother leads our family in singing “Silent Night” in German. I wish I could have a picture of this every. single. year.

This year my boyfriend and I bought our first home together as well. This last week I had to take down Christmas. What a bummer, right? Always so depressing to see it come down. Here is my tree, some of my favorite ornaments, my favorite collection (Swarovski snowflake ornaments), and our banister decor that my sister did!!! (and yes- that is the infamous Pinterest “make an ornament of your house” ornament. I got in before her wait list exploded into a year and I LOOOOOVE it!!!!

The best part of my week was that I got engaged to the love of my life! I know the story will seem simple or weird to some, but it was PERFECTION for us. I got Steve a penguin costume back in October because I just LOVED it. It made me laugh and I knew I needed to have it. I bought it for $20 bucks and it has turned out to be the best money I have ever spent. He has worn it to wake me up on Christmas morning, for cooking me breakfast on Sundays, and well, just to make me smile on a bad day on some occasions. He came into our room Saturday night with it on I got so excited. I LOVE this penguin suit in case you can’t tell. He told me that he thinks this will be our year and that he cannot wait to spend his life with me. He talked about how glad he is to have me in his life and that I am his favorite person in the world. After me asking for his “flipper” he wound up pulling up his hand and my ring was on his pinky. I was just thrilled!!!  Let me tell you- this guy is the bee’s knees. He is the most thoughtful, caring, appreciative, big-hearted, kindest person I know. I cannnnnnnot wait to be his wife and spend the rest of my life letting him know how much I appreciate him!!!
